Your personal data at TrucksNL
This privacy statement is about how TrucksNL collects and processes personal data for various purposes. We want to be clear about how we collect, process and protect data. TrucksNL handles your information with care.
Buyers and sellers find each other on TrucksNL. On the one hand, sellers place their advertisements online via our "trade management system" or we receive their advertisements with the corresponding properties and contact details via other "advertisement management systems" made by other companies. On the other hand, buyers search for vehicles, machines and objects they want to buy. Buyers find objects that meet their requirements by using filters and search terms. Especially for buyers, a TrucksNL account has been developed in which searches are stored, which ads have been viewed and to which they have responded.
This is who we are
TrucksNL B.V. was founded in 1998 and has been based in Wijchen (the Netherlands) ever since. It was initially a local marketplace on which mainly sellers from and near the city Nijmegen advertised. It soon became clear that there was more interest in advertising online. The platform quickly became a household name in the Netherlands and Belgium and was the first of its kind. Today, the (mainly B2B platform) is visited by buyers and sellers from all over the world.
Which personal data do we process and why?
We process your personal data to enable the use of the platform. TrucksNL establishes contact between buyers and sellers and to do this, both parties need each other's contact details when the buyer responds to an advertisement. We facilitate a contact moment. Further communication and possible financial completion take place between buyer and seller.
Personal data
To show relevant ads to buyers, we store search queries and viewed ads, among other things. When buyers return to the platform, we can personalise ads and notifications and make them match previously shown interest. This helps you find ads that match your interests faster and only see communications that may be relevant.
Device data and unique device tokens so that we can identify you and you can, for example, log in from any device and be offered the same experience.
IP address, timestamp of visit and if known we enrich the IP address with public KvK (the Dutch Chamber of Commerce) data (or similar indexes) such as company name, domain, SBI / SIC code and city name.
Analytical data such as referring URLs and sources, pages viewed and clicks on the platform.
Location data to show you relevant ads near you.
Sellers, on the other hand, want to know how often their ads have been shown, viewed and responded to. This ad performance determines the value of the subscription they purchase for a fee. Only when a buyer responds to an ad do we share the contact details entered with the seller so that contact can be made. Enriched company data by IP address are not shared. This information is used for market analysis and target group segmentation for our own communication and website optimisation.

Security and trust
We store properties and media files of vehicles and objects that are entered. After all, these ads must be displayed correctly on the platform. At the same time, we build a database of countless objects and their properties. When similar objects are advertised, our systems can detect possible discrepancies. Direct publication of marked ads can then be prevented. It is crucial for TrucksNL to be known as a reliable platform. The offers which appear on TrucksNL must be truthful and we thus protect buyers. We also protect the seller. If we notice any suspicious activity directed at advertisers, we also take action such as blocking certain IP addresses and e-mail addresses.

We use this information to make it easier to respond to ads and to fill them out for you. This reduces the chance of typing errors and enables the seller to reach you. As a result, you don't miss out on the advertisement you want and the seller is satisfied. The date of birth can be used, for example, to show you a birthday wish when you visit the website or to place a free ad. We also store your language settings so that when you log in, the website is displayed in your preferred language. The photo serves only as recognition for the user that he/she is logged in while visiting the website. The photo is not used in the communication with advertisers that goes through our platform.

Sector and industry
The company data such as postcode and address can be used to show search results near you and to provide a quick route planner via a Google Maps link to where the property is located if you want to see it with your own eyes first. Sector and industry data helps us to understand which industries and sectors use our platform and to show relevant ads to the person who created the TrucksNL account. To ensure security, we recommend everyone to create a TrucksNL account. If a dispute does arise between buyer and seller, we are better able to make relevant information available when this is our legal duty.
Trade management system (TMS)
Sellers can use the TMS free of charge. In it, they can manage their stock. Among other things, they can:

This information is stored to correctly display ads and sellers on TrucksNL and to allow buyers to contact the seller in a way they prefer: WhatsApp, call or send email using the contact form. The advertising performance shown to sellers is numerical only. These can never be traced back to said personal data that we store.

Linking stock
Another service offered by the TMS is stock linking. For a fee, advertisers can send their ads to over 200 other portals. Sellers manage their stock in one system and synchronise mutations on all the portals on which they advertise. Of course, this requires sharing the content of the ads with third parties. Other purposes based on legitimate interest
Offering targeted service, marketing updates and special promotions based on anonymised user profiles (also called Audiences).
Measure performance of own online marketing campaigns via search, display, social networks and email marketing.
Conduct market research and analysis.
Improve the platform and our services. We measure user activity to optimise the platform and improve our services.
Sharing your data with third parties
We only share your data when necessary.
To provide a service. When you request a quote for financial leasing or to have a vehicle inspection carried out remotely, we will have to share your data with this third party.
To carry out our marketing activities.
To detect and combat illegal activities and thus guarantee the quality of our platform.
To comply with legal obligations.
Right to access, modify and delete
Under the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation), you have rights. Right to access, correct and delete personal data. In certain situations, you can object to the processing of your data or request restriction of processing. We respect your rights, although we cannot always fully comply with every request. Sometimes there are other compelling interests or legal obligations that justify further processing of your personal data. In the event that visitors wish to view, amend or have their data deleted, they can contact us at privacy@trucks.nl. We aim to comply with the request within four weeks.
After the agreement with the advertiser has ended, TrucksNL may retain information and data from the advertiser's account for as long as this is permitted by Dutch law. For the advertiser, this means that the user account, including all associated components such as stock and advertisement management, followers on the company page, years of membership and all associated statistics, will be deleted.
