História
Em 1928, a DAF foi fundada em Eindhoven por Hub van Doorne. Na altura, as letras D.A.F. representavam: Van Doorne's Aanhangwagen Fabriek. Até 1948, o DAF produzia principalmente reboques e semi-reboques. Em 1948, os primeiros camiões deixaram esta fábrica e o nome mudou para Van Doorne's Automobiel Fabriek. Desde 1957, a DAF tem fornecido os seus camiões com os seus próprios motores diesel; antes disso, os motores vinham de partes como Perkins e Hercules.
Nos anos 90, o DAF tornou-se parte do PACCAR. Além da DAF, PACCAR gere também as marcas americanas de camiões Kenworth e Peterbilt.
Gama
Entre os condutores europeus, o DAF é conhecido principalmente pela sua cabine enormemente espaçosa e ergonomicamente concebida no modelo XF. Desde a sua introdução em 1988, a Super Space Cab da DAF tem sido uma parte indispensável do transporte europeu internacional.
A DAF tem três séries de camiões: o LF, CF e XF. Cada série pode ser utilizada para um fim diferente.
O LF é o mais pequeno e tem o círculo de viragem mais curto de todos os camiões no mercado. Portanto, o LF é adequado para o transporte nas cidades e para o transporte de mercadorias em distâncias médias.
O FC pode ser utilizado para transporte regional, nacional e internacional (distribuição). Além disso, pode ser utilizado em terreno acidentado.
Como mencionado anteriormente, a XF tem a maior cabine, o que a torna especialmente adequada para longas distâncias e transporte pesado.
Por série, pode escolher entre diferentes tipos de camiões, tais como: camiões rígidos, camiões com sistema de contentores, camiões de lixo, camiões de chassis com cabina ou camiões basculantes.
