Standard tractors

For national transport the tractors are often equipped with a day cab. Tractors with a sleeper cab or globetrotter are usually used for international transport. The fifth wheel on the chassis of the tractor is used to couple trailers. Some well-known makes and models:

Environmental legislation and regulations

Due to increasingly strict environmental requirements that vary from country to country and even from city to city, it is advisable to look at tractors that are equipped with an AdBlue tank. AdBlue greatly reduces exhaust emissions and you can drive further on the same tank.

Tolls / road pricing in Germany

In Germany, a distinction is made between tractors with a GVW of 7,500 kg or more. This has everything to do with the "mautplicht" (toll) that will then apply on highways and provincial roads.

Standard and standard

The standard tractors in Europe have the cabin above the engine and are flat. The Americans and British also call it a Cab over Engine or sheer face. What they call standard tractors (conventional cab) are the so-called torpedo tractors. A tractor with a nose.
